Knowledge base
How can AI answer from my documents?
Upload documents to a Samesoul knowledge base, wait for processing to finish, and check the selected knowledge bases in chat. Relevant document passages can then help the assistant answer your questions.
Upload and ask
- Check that your plan includes creating a knowledge base, then open the knowledge base entry in your profile.
- Create a knowledge base with a clear name and purpose.
- Upload a supported document, such as PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, TXT, Markdown or HTML.
- Wait until processing is complete and the document is ready.
- Check the selected knowledge bases in chat and ask about a specific document or topic.
Improve your questions
- Keep a knowledge base focused on a coherent topic.
- Use clear document headings and verify that scanned text can be read.
- Name the source, date range or section when relevant.
- Check important conclusions against the original document, especially legal, medical and financial material.
Knowledge base versus memory
A knowledge base uses documents you upload. Long-term memory organizes personal information from ongoing conversations. Neither workflow requires you to change the base model's parameters.
Questions and answers
- Can every account create a knowledge base?
- Creation limits and access depend on your plan. Check the membership and knowledge base screens for current access and costs.
- Can I ask questions immediately after uploading?
- Wait for document processing to finish and for the document to be ready.
- Why was my document not used?
- Check that it is ready and its knowledge base is selected. Then ask a more specific question and identify the relevant source.
